Toddler & Preschool Program

Our teachers curate an educational pathway; each classroom honors the age and development of the children, and builds on their skills and experiences.

The Journey Begins

Chickadees (18 - 24 months)

Chickadees are just beginning their journey into the world of education. They are developing skills to process separation, develop trust with their teachers, and find comfort in playing with peers. With the help of their teachers, they begin to form an awareness of their social footprint – as individuals who can care for themselves and as members of the classroom community who care for each other.

Using age-appropriate language to describe the world around them, teachers model language to promote peer interactions and move children from simply playing side by side to more engaging cooperative play.

Learning Together

Robins (2 - 3 years)

The world of a two-year-old is brimming with socialization, conversation, imagination, and curiosity. With so many physical, cognitive, and social milestones to achieve, our curriculum for two-year-olds encourages children to learn through exploration. Our teachers and environment foster autonomy and self-confidence in newly independent and increasingly social children.

We provide opportunities to develop patience by encouraging longer turns and sharing materials, and we build memory and focus skills by learning each other’s names and putting toys away.

Diving Deeper into Learning

Starlings (3 - 4 years)

In our 3-year-old preschool classroom, children confidently separate from their parents and begin to take pride in their work. They are developing an understanding of social interactions and peer engagement, allowing us to nurture their growth further.

We extend circle times and read longer stories to help build their attention spans and foster a love for learning. Through purposeful play, we integrate early math skills, such as patterning and counting, into our daily activities.

School Readiness

Goldfinch (4 - 4.5 years)

As children move into the 4s classes, students have incorporated all the social aspects from the 2s and 3s years. Understanding their value as part of the group, they can take care of their own needs and those of others, and participate in pair or small and large learning groups. Daily experiences with language, literacy, and math help ensure children are prepared for academic success in kindergarten.

The Bonus Year

Ravens (TK/DK)

Children who turn 5 years between September 2nd – June 2nd, are eligible for Transitional Kindergarten (TK). With strong social-emotional skills, our oldest group is now able to devote their time to serious research and in-depth curricular studies. TK children have the most involved questions, and we explore these through project-based investigations typically using science and social studies topics that integrate literacy and mathematics concepts.
